How do I subscribe?/What’s podcast?
You can find the show on most podcast directories. If you’re new to podcasts, welcome! A podcast is an audio program that is released over time. Usually on a fixed schedule, but not always. You can find shows that run the gamut from trivia shows (hello!) to news to fiction to interviews. The easiest way to subscribe is to use a podcast app on your smartphone.
Apple users will already have iTunes installed, so you can use that. Android users have a bunch to choose from. My personal choice is Podcast Addict, but there are several to choose from in the Play Store.
If you’re a Spotify listener (on any platform), you can subscribe through that as well. Got an Alexa-based device (Echo, Echo Dot, etc)? Just ask it to play the Dorky Geeky Nerdy podcast.
How do I play?
It’s a pretty simple format. I ask you a question, you get five seconds to answer, then the answer is revealed. If you need a way to score points, you should check out the Rules page. Short answer: 1 point for each question in the Dorky Round, 2 for the Geeky Round, and 3 for the Nerdy Round.
But, feel free to come up with your own scoring system. We don’t care.
What do I win?
The pride of knowing the answer. What more do you need?
How can I support the show?
There are a couple of ways you can help keep the show going.
- Share with your friends on Social Media. Post a link to the show on Facebook, Twitter, or wherever. Word of mouth is a great way to spread the show.
- Write a review. There are a couple of places you can write a review (iTunes, Podchaser, etc). Write up something nice and leave us a five-star review. It shows that we have loyal fans.
- Click a sponsor link. Several of the episodes have sponsors. If they look interesting, click on them.
- Become a Patron (this is coming soon).
What happened to comments?
I had to shut comments off. They were just a cesspool of spam. This is why we can’t have nice things.
If you want to send the show a comment, just use the Contact Us page. We read those and usually respond within a day or two.
Why don’t you do an episode on X?
You got to let us know, first! Use the Contact Us page and send your suggestion in. Several past episodes are based on suggestions from listeners. Often, they’re topics I just completely miss, others are in the queue already. But, you’ll never know until you ask.
Hey, you got something wrong!
That’s not a question! But seriously, we occasionally goof something. I’ve gotten a lot better at research since Season One. Every so often, I get one wrong (but usually it’s because I phrased something incorrectly or weirdly). Let us know and we’ll fix it (if not in the audio, in the transcript).
How often are shows released?
The show releases a new episode of Dorky Geeky Nerdy once a week on Wednesday morning.
If you want to get them as soon as they’re released, subscribe on your podcast directory of choice. If you’re not into that, you can subscribe to the newsletter and you’ll get an email when new episodes drop.
Do I have to listen to the episodes in order?
While we’d like you to listen to all the shows, you definitely don’t need to listen to them in the order they are released. That being said, each episode contains a clue question about the next episode, so going in order will let you have thirty-one questions per episode to play with. But we’re not sticklers, you do you.
